This is made evident in the prominence of Luther, Calvin, and Zwingli as leaders of the reform movements in their respective areas of ministry. What blinds them so that they cannot see the entrance? Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Cranmer, author and editor of the first two BCPs (1549 and 1552) retained the monastic offices, hoping that regular Christians would adopt the monastic practice in their daily lives. Her name we have already mentioned incidentally, but her great qualities make her worthy of more lengthened observation.
